Lexis+ Tip of the Week: Alerts

ASK YOURSELF:

How do I get automatically notified if more cases match my search terms?

How do I create an email “newsletter” on Lexis+?

LEXIS+ TIP:  Alerts on Lexis+ enable you to be updated on new documents that meet your search criteria or changes to an existing document, such as legislation, that is important to you. Monitor news, cases or legislation and find new cases – all with one click of the mouse with Alerts on Lexis+.

TEST YOUR KNOWLEDGE: Run a search for the following search terms: WrittenBy(Sotomayor) (no spaces) to find cases where Justice Sotomayor wrote the majority opinion, concurrence, or dissent. Have Lexis alert you to any new cases that match your search by selecting the bell icon at the top of the page to set up an Alert. You can choose to monitor your search in several different content types on Lexis+. What are the first three content types listed within the Alert template?

Hint:

  1. Go directly to search results: https://bit.ly/3eNzVkA
  2. Click the Alert bell at the top of the page next to your search terms
  3. Click the Contents Types pull-down tab

ANSWER: Cases, Statutes and Legislation, Secondary Materials
