Job Opening: Paralegal – Commercial Litigation – Downtown Ft. Lauderdale

Seeking a Litigation Paralegal to provide assistance to our Complex Commercial Litigation Practice Group in our Downtown Fort Lauderdale office. This is a full-time position. Standard days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. However, the position requires the ability to work during nonstandard hours when the need arises. Complex Commercial Paralegal Duties and Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will work closely with our litigation team on litigation matters, assisting with all aspects of case preparation and file management from commencement through settlement or trial.
Must have experience performing a variety of duties such as preparing legal documents, correspondence, discovery, electronic court filings in Federal and State Court and communicating with clients.
Other responsibilities include:

Provide support to lawyers during the entire litigation process from inception thru trial
Labor and Employment a big+
Paralegal must have strong discovery experience and prior experience with large cases
E-discovery management is a big +
Experience working on briefs and cite checking
Correspondence and discovery
Assist with preparing the attorney for hearings and trials
Paralegal must be familiar with retrieval, review, and production of documents.
Maintenance of case pleadings, correspondence, discovery, and research ‘
Must have strong writing skills and summarization skills
Strong research skills
Maintain document, transcript, and work product databases
Prepare trial binders
Assist with trial site preparation and attend trials
Conduct legal research
Organize and prepare exhibit lists and/or privilege logs
Coordinate work with outside document/litigation vendors, including adherence to strict deadlines ‘ Maintain confidentiality of client information ‘ Other duties as assigned
Document organization and production
Conducting factual research
Pacer and Westlaw to find cases and case history
Preparing for and attending trials
Acting as liaison among various internal departments, as well as with outside agencies
Prepare and finalize pleadings in accordance with applicable State and Federal rules for filing with court;
Bates and Redacting of documents using Acrobat Adobe
Assisting with document retrieval, review, organization, and production;
Maintain case pleadings, correspondence, discovery, and research for large volume cases;
Cite-check and edit legal documents;
Maintain and use document, transcript, and work product databases;
Prepare for depositions, i.e., prep. binders, exhibits, and all other discovery related tasks;
Organize and prepare exhibit lists and/or privilege logs;
Coordinate work with outside document/litigation vendors, including adherence to strict deadlines;
Coordinate and assist with trial preparations, i.e., exhibits, witness binders, and demonstratives;
Assist with trial site preparation and attending trials;
Maintain confidentiality of client information; and
Other duties as assigned

Preferred Education/Experience:
The candidate should have Bachelor’s degree.
A Paralegal Certificate is preferred.

Must have 3+ years of law firm litigation experience.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Acrobat Adobe and have a working knowledge of research databases such as Relativity and Summation.

Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational and communication (oral and written) skills;
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with or without direct supervision and
coordinate multiple projects
Flexibility for unscheduled overtime as needed.
