Fla Bar News: E-service change draws questions
Have you had issues with this change?
A software upgrade on June 20 changed the ways parties are selected for the electronic service system, which is part of the portal when a document is filed.
You can read all about it in this article by clicking here.
I haven’t had any issues but I think the change was unnecessary and will cause service issues if filers are inattentive. All parties should be selected by default, with the option of deselecting any parties, if needed, as it was originally set up. Which does the greater harm — someone who shouldn’t be served is served, or someone who must be served, isn’t? Having to intentionally select parties to be served negates the convenience of default settings. What it all boils down to is as I said above — filers must pay attention to what they are doing when filing/serving electronically.
