The Miami-Dade Legal Support Association (MDLSA) is a local chapter of an organization consisting of legal professionals. MDLSA members include legal secretaries, legal assistants, paralegals, and anyone employed in the legal department of a company. Membership is open to anyone in the legal field.
MDLSA has monthly meetings that combine education and networking in a friendly and upbeat environment. Their meetings are a really nice break from the norm. Generally, check-in starts at 5:30 pm and the meeting begings at 6:00 pm. Some folks arrive as early as 4:45 and relax at the end of their busy day (myself included!!). The meetings are usually held at a restaurant in Coral Gables with a great selection of food and drinks. Unlike some networking events which are “by attorneys, for attorneys”, non-lawyers are embraced at the MDLSA – people will greet you, welcome you, get to know you and socialize with you. You will meet a fantastic group of people and develope true connections and friendships.
The purpose of MDLSA is to unite all persons employed in work of a legal nature, so that ideas may be exchanged and knowledge increased; to further our members’ knowledge of the law, to stimulate a high order of business and professional attainment; to create a high standard of ethics among our members; to assist and support selected local charitable organizations and to further the interests of members through the Florida Association of Legal Support Specialists (FALSS) and assist FALSS in achieving their objectives.
The annual membership fee is a really low cost of $50!! Also, if you are a student, there is a student membership option for only $25. The cost to attend the monthly dinner meetings is $35.00 for non-members and $30.00 for members – this price includes dinner and CLE. I am telling you about MDLSA because it is a group that I am a member of and that I am involved in. I think it is a wonderful group and I think anyone from my website would enjoy attending a dinner meeting.
